Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your private safari guide and transferred to your lodge in Arusha. Day 2 of 7
Arusha to Serengeti - Entering the Migration Zone
Morning departure from Arusha. Drive through the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area with stops for crater rim views. Enter the Serengeti through the Naabi Hill Gate. Afternoon game drive as you head towards the central Serengeti. Your guide will radio other safari vehicles to locate the migration herds. First encounter with the vast Serengeti plains and their incredible wildlife.

Central Serengeti - Heart of the Migration
Full day exploring the central Serengeti, the year-round resident area for many of the migration herds. Early morning game drive to catch predators hunting. The Seronera River valley is famous for leopard sightings - watch for these elusive cats resting in sausage trees. Afternoon game drive to hippo pools and along the river where crocodiles bask in the sun. Evening sundowner cocktails overlooking the plains.

Travel west towards the Grumeti River, following the migration route. The western corridor is home to some of the largest crocodiles in Africa - the famous Grumeti crocodiles that wait for the migrating herds. Game drive along the river looking for river crossings. The area also has excellent lion prides and large elephant herds. Afternoon exploring the dense woodlands of the western Serengeti.

Today is the highlight of your migration safari as you head to the northern Serengeti and the famous Mara River. This is where the most dramatic river crossings occur - thousands of wildebeest plunging into the crocodile-infested waters. Position yourself at the river crossing points and witness nature at its most raw and powerful. The northern Serengeti also has excellent cheetah hunting grounds.

Another full day in the northern Serengeti to maximize your migration viewing opportunities. Early morning at the river crossings when the herds are most active. Explore the Lamai Wedge - a beautiful area between the Mara River and the Kenyan border. Afternoon game drive through the kopjes where lions rest. Final evening in the Serengeti with a special bush dinner under the stars.

Final morning game drive in the Serengeti. Optional hot air balloon safari over the migration (additional cost). After breakfast, begin your journey back to Arusha. Game drive en route through the Serengeti. Stop at the Ngorongoro Crater rim for final panoramic views. Arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon. Farewell lunch and transfer to airport or hotel.
