Arusha to Tarangire - Elephant Kingdom

Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your Arusha hotel. Drive south to Tarangire National Park, approximately 2 hours through the beautiful Tanzanian countryside. Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds - some of the largest in Africa. The park is home to over 3,000 elephants, and huge herds gather along the Tarangire River during the dry season. Watch families of elephants bathing, playing, and interacting. The landscape is stunning - ancient baobab trees dot the savanna, some over 1,000 years old. These magnificent trees provide shelter for leopards and nesting sites for birds. Afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River. Spot lions, giraffes, zebras, and over 500 bird species. Tarangire to Lake Manyara - Tree-Climbing Lions

Morning game drive in Tarangire as you exit the park. Search for any wildlife you may have missed yesterday. Drive to Lake Manyara National Park, approximately 1.5 hours through the Great Rift Valley. The scenery is spectacular as you descend the escarpment with panoramic views of the valley below. Lake Manyara is a compact park with incredible diversity. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions - one of only two places in Africa where lions regularly climb trees. Look for these magnificent cats resting in the branches of acacia trees. The park is also home to large elephant herds, hippos, and the alkaline Lake Manyara which attracts thousands of flamingos. The lush groundwater forest is home to baboons, blue monkeys, and incredible birdlife. Afternoon game drive through the park. Arrive at your campsite near the park.

Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro - Crater Views

Morning game drive in Lake Manyara for any wildlife you may have missed. The early morning light is perfect for photography. Drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, approximately 1 hour drive. As you ascend the crater rim, the landscape changes dramatically. Stop at the main viewpoint for your first breathtaking look into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera - the Ngorongoro Crater. The view is spectacular - the crater floor stretches 20 kilometers across. Set up camp on the crater rim with stunning views. Enjoy dinner overlooking the crater as the sun sets. The stars above Ngorongoro are spectacular.

Ngorongoro Crater - Big Five Safari

Wake up early for the highlight of your safari - a full day game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend 600 meters into the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is home to approximately 25,000 large animals, making it one of the most densely populated wildlife areas on Earth. Ngorongoro to Arusha - Farewell Safari

Optional early morning game drive in the crater (additional cost). The early morning light is spectacular, and predators are more active in the cool morning hours. Return to camp for breakfast with crater views. Pack up and begin your journey back to Arusha. Drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at viewpoints along the crater rim for final photos. Optional stop at Olduvai Gorge - the Cradle of Mankind where early human fossils were discovered (additional entry fee). Continue through the Great Rift Valley with stunning views. Arrive in Arusha in the late afternoon. Farewell lunch at a local restaurant. Transfer to your hotel or the airport.
